    Canon IPF-6100 re-sync CPU Board

Does anyone know how the CPU board in a Canon IPF-6100 that has been cleared can be re-synced with the printer?

The command was issued from the front panel to replace the CPU by accident and now the printer is waiting for a new CPU and all info on board is gone.

    But the board is fine.

so u went into the service mode and performed a board replacement procedure for CPU for Main PCB ??

After board replacement procedure, you must reboot into Service Mode then reboot to clear the errors ??

How to Flash_Update firmware on a Wide Format Printer with the L Printer Tool.pdf

Is your FIRMWARE for IPF6100 loaded in a folder on laptop or pc

    EXAMPLE BELOW

Re: Canon IPF-6100 re-sync CPU Board

      Hi, I flashed the Printer already and while I was in there got the Log 2 log files;

      Log files

      Normal Boot

      Service Mode Boot

      >performed a board replacement procedure for CPU for Main PCB ??<

I did not change a board but I DID by accident, push the keys (telling the printer I was going to change the board)

After this happened I read the forum and read the service manual. I d/l the latest firmware from cannon website and used the L Printer Service Tool to update it.

The printer took the update and rebooted. The firmware version increased, but everything else was the same.

error code E196-404D in top right corner of panel
E196-404D = Machine ID mismatch between main controller PCB and maintenance cartridge ROM PCB

u need to initialize the error in service mode

Did u try to initialize the error in service mode. [INITIALIZE] > [ERROR].

        ????????????

        Your CPU is good

think this is for your model
if not see your service manual

        Execute PCB replacement mode
or replace the main controller PCB.

        Replacing the main controller PCB
        1) Turn off the power and disconnect the power plug.
        2) Replace the main controller PCB.
        3) Reconnect the power plug and turn on the power while pressing the [Load] and [Navigate] keys. (Start the printer in PCB replacement mode.)
        4) Release the key, but not before making sure that "Initializing" appears on the display. (The message lamp lights when printer enters PCB replacement mode.)
        5) Wait until "REPLACE MODE" appears on the display.
        6) Select CPU BOARD and press the [OK] key.
        7) Turn off the power, but not before making sure that "Power off" appears on the display.
        8) Turn on the power.
        9) Check the firmware version. If the firmware is not the latest version, upgrade the firmware to the latest version.

Re: Canon IPF-6100 re-sync CPU Board

          From my Service Manual:
          __________________
          1. PCB replacement mode
This mode is used when replacing the main PCB or MC relay PCB.
          By executing this mode,
          - Backup data of the settings and counter values stored in the MC relay PCB are moved to the new main PCB.
          - The data such as the settings and counter values are copied to the MC relay PCB.
          a) Entering the PCB replacement mode
Follow the same procedure as that for entering the service mode.
(With the "Paper Source" button and "Information" button pressed down, turn on the "Power" button.)
When the printer starts up, compare the serial number memorized in the main PCB's EEPROM with that
memorized in the MC relay PCB's EEPROM. If they do not match, or no serial number is memorized in either
EEPROM, enter the PCB replacement mode.
While you are in the PCB replacement mode, the MESSAGE LED, roll media LED, and ONLINE LED are lit.
          b) Procedure
Select "CPU BOARD" or "MC BOARD" using the [ Left] and [Right ] buttons, and then press the [OK] button
          to determine it.
          - CPU BOARD
Select this after replacing the main PCB.
The data in the MC relay PCB is copied to the main PCB.
          - MC BOARD
Select this before replacing the main PCB.
The data in the main PCB is copied to the MC relay PCB.
Use this when the MC relay PCB is a new one.
          c) Exiting the PCB replacement mode
Turning off the Power button of the printer allows you to exit the PCB replacement mode.
          _____________________________________

When I powerup in Service mode. Service mode goes straight to CPU replacement mode.
the CPU is blank and does not match the MC. All I am allowed to do is b) Procedure above. I have for both boards several times. The printer says Executing... and then says Power OFF.

Now how about this? I used the below procedure to update the firmware. and I just noticed that is says 'to update WITHOUT initializing'. How to I initialize when sending Firmware?

          >u need to initialize the error in service mode

Did u try to initialize the error in service mode. [INITIALIZE] > [ERROR].<

Service Mode goes right to CPU Replacement... and none of the other buttons, except "b) Procedure" work

              -----------------------------------
did u receive a new Main pcb ??

Data is held in MC relay PCB than transferred to Main (new Main)

Page 330 Special Modes for Servicing

              not enter Service Mode ?
              can't understand why

After replacement of the main controller PCB, the printer must be started up in the service mode to take over
the setting and adjustment values to the new PCB properly (the service mode will be switched to the PCB
              replacement mode automatically).

Holding down INFORMATION and PAPER SOURCE at the same time and Power on and the Printer switches to PCB replacment mode just like you state above.

It seems that that backup data got wiped. (I'm just gussing) I've tried copying the data BACK to the CPU from the MP and vis-a-versa. If there is nothing to copy back to the CPU what can be done. If I pull the wipped but good board can some default info be programmed back.

I did not get a NEW BORAD (I think it's as much as the printer) and wanted see if I did could be recovered from.

Re: Canon IPF-6100 re-sync CPU Board

I think if you put a new Main Board in, there would be the same problem. Because, once you have installed it, the same screen that I am getting now would come up.

It wants the backup data (that is suppose to take place before you change the MB) from the MC Relay PCB. And that data is not there.

So, if there is no data in the Main CPU OR the MC, then what.

That is what I would like you to ask about. I need to get the serial number/head info, etc. ON the main board. the counter info, no big deal. I just want it to work again.

                    And Thank You sooooo much.

Believe the Data needed should be on the ordered CPU Main Pcb.

When u put in the new CPU and select the CPU in board replacement mode. This should transfer the original serial number from the MC pcb to the new CPU.

Shouldn't the Data have been transferred to MC pcb when u did the CPU replacement procedure

MC shows a Serial # on panel >> Data must be in there ???

problem viewing your downloads/ will try later

when old Main CPU is in printer what happens
when u start in PCB replacement mode
                      ???
so it never gets to this below ??????
                      power is off> then
turn on the printer with the PAPER SOURCE button and
INFORMATION button pressed down. (The printer will start up in the PCB Replacement mode.)
-Check that "Initializing" appears on the display, and then release the buttons. (When the printer enters the PCB Replacement mode, the message lamp goes on.)
-What until "REPLACE MODE" appears on the display.
-Select "MC BOARD", and then press the ok button
-Check that "TURN POWER OFF" appears on the display, and then turn off the printer.
                      -Turn on the printer.
-Check the firmware version. If the firmware is not the latest version, update.

                        picture040.jpgpicture041.jpg

The Serial No. from the back of the machine is: AEF00824
Service mode show the CPU (empty) first and when I press LR Arrow, I see MC.

Look at what is in the MC. because it has the last 8 characters jumbled, it makes me think that I overwrote the good data with empty/bad data from the CPU.

But if it WERE really, it should populate the cpu when I select OK

                          bad news
if MC relay pcb has no back up data from EPROM of old CPU

What a mess eh... To update firmware, hold down stop and information keys while powering up. Keep them held down. This will prevent printer from initializing. The screen will say Download/Send firmware. Should be able to flash.Good luck... First shotgun blast if still lobotomozed would be Maintanence Cartridge Relay pcb...its cheapest...

You should not have lost data in MC relay pcb. When you execute CPU replacement, you do it after the new CPU board is installed. So the data must reside on the mc pcb,and similarily when replacing mc pcb,you execute MC board replacement after installing new one. So data must reside on CPU pcb also. Its waiting to write data to a blank CPU pcb, but its not blank. Like i said if all else fails start with mc relay pcb. Hope some of this helps.
