    MAC 10.15 scanning to SMB

    Happy Monday!

Last year I had found a way to get SMB scanning from a Sharp MFP to a Mac with the 10.14 OS. Naturally whenever the newest, latest and greatest update dropped our customer jumped on it and HUZZAH! Her SMB no longer works. I tried to talk to the guys at Sharp and they don't even have the print drivers for 10.15 let alone a solution for SMB scanning. Does anyone have any workarounds for this yet?

    Thanks
    -Chris

Hi, we sometimes renounce the SMB scan and force the use of Scan to mail.
it is the fastest and most painless solution

I know this sounds very basic to do, but have you tried enabling and re enabling smb sharing and resharing the folder. I tried this on a customer who had a Konica Minolta C3850 FS and also updated their mac OS. I laughed that it worked but give it a shot I even tried it on my mac mini 2012 that I recently updated and it did the same thing. Hope this helps

Upgrading to OSx 10.15 may disabled or removed SMBX, the SMB implementation used by Apple.

Yeah, I tried to explain to her that for the here and now until I get a solution for the SMB issue I can set it up to scan to email and her response was "Oh that won't work, it is just too many steps.". It is one of those impossible to please customers if you are picking up what I'm dropping. Another quote from her is "It has to be a problem with the copier, can you tell me when our lease is up?"...

We had our Sharp rep out a couple of weeks ago and he said that Apple is making it difficult for everything nowadays.

I haven't been on site yet, but thank you for the response.

Another thing: make sure your Mac's time is the same time as your multi-function printer. But then again, with Mac it's a long war for SMB

Which is ironic because it's been the default file sharing protocol for Macs since at least 10.9. SMBX, Apple's implementation of SMB, has been garbage since it was first introduced with 10.8.
