Chrome Prints Color even though Default settings for printer is Mono

Hi Folks,

I recently installed safeq print management to a customer having ricoh machines. The design of the solution is as follows:
1. Create a common printer to be shared and installed thru group policy/desktop central with ricoh UPD.
2. The default setting for the printer driver is to print to mono with an option from the selection to print color.
3. Create a rule that all users print jobs will be forced to print in mono only.
4. Create a rule that some users will be added to a group that are able to print in color.
5. Create another rule that prevents all users in copying color but allowing some to use the photocopy in color.

All of the above design and rules are working fine except if a user prints from the browser (google chrome).
If a user prints lets say a pdf file opened in chrome, the default print dialog box from the browser is set to color whereas the default printer setting is mono.
When the document reaches the printer, it is treated as color and would not print.

My question now is, why does google chrome do not get the settings from the windows print dialog box?
Is there any way to bypass this? Is it a design flaw from chrome?

My guess would be Chrome. We've had issues recently with a client of ours using Edge.

There is a way to do this.
Simply set the print defaults on the FPS as normal. I always push a B&W and Color version of the printer.
1. Download the ADMX templates for Chrome Here: Set Chrome Browser policies on managed PCs - Google Chrome Enterprise Help
2. Add the templates to Group Policy and add to an existing policy or create and deploy.
3. Enable "Disable Print Preview" or "Force Printing using System Dialog" depending on what version of the template you are using.
**This setting is in the root of the Google template.
This will force Chrome to pop the windows print dialog which will use the default settings as it should. This will force users to have the B&W queue as their default but, also allow them to change to the Color queue if needed. We use branch office settings on our color default preferences as it is a lower cost and this allows users to choose the color queue set at the server level and 5 times less cost.

So it was from chrome after all.
Did some little research and found a command line that needs to be added to disable print preview from chrome.
You have to add --disable-print-preview on the target when opening chrome.

Instead of printing with (Ctrl+ P) try print using System dialog (Ctrl + Shift + P) to specify the printer driver and print it out.
