I do this stuff on the weekends too
We haven't seen issue yet with a few SMR drives we have out, but they are in RAID arrays, either RAID 6 or 10, so there is some resiliency if a drive fails. We're keeping an eye on them for NAS use, but we have always gone with branded drives for servers as opposed to general drives.
thanks for the response... based one what the guy is saying in the video... if a drive fails in raid... it could take a day and a half for recovery vs conventional drives which would take a couple of hours...
so be advised... if recovery takes a long time... its the smr hard drive working normally... hence the lawsuit...
