Re: Need some advice on learning networking

    I need some more advice.

I'm gonna buy a server. I'm not sure which one to buy. I have a chance to buy the following:

Not sure about the prices as of yet. The guy is supposed to call me back later today with the price. This is a company that I've done business with before. I've bought a coupe of Cisco 24 port switches, a few PC's, a laptop and a couple of access points.

Any advice before I make a bad decision?

If its only going to be a tool for learning and home use you don't need expensive hardware.
Then again this seems to be something you enjoy more than you mite care to admit.
Sure there must be advantages to having higher end more suited hardware.
    Whatever

I'll admit that I'm addicted. However, this won't be for only a learning tool. I'm tapped out on storage space on my PC and my backup drive is full. I also have other computers here at the office and it'd be nice to set them up on a domain.

I really want to buy this server but I REALLY REALLY don't want to pay $2100. I'm gonna see if I can talk him down on the price. If not, I'll look for a better deal. Most servers that I've seen don't come loaded with all the memory and hard drives like this one.

You should be able to a used Server for less than half of a new one.

2100$ is more like the price of single gaming PC not a server. These come at a price for a reason you know.

That's true. You're about to talk me into buying this server.
