Why would anyone want a physical file server when they can have SharePoint?
There are some file types that SharePoint doesn't do well with, and not all files are good candidates for its use. Even though most of my company's files are in SharePoint online, we still have an on-prem file server for things that are only used in the office, like software install files, backup images of customer computers we service, etc.

I've spent several hours on SharePoint today and I finally feel like I'm making progress. I finally figured out how to grant permission to folders much like is done with Server 2019. I wouldn't say that setting up SharePoint is easier or more difficult than Server 2019...it's just different and takes some getting used to. Overall, I find it to be user friendly but like everything...there's levels to this stuff. I plan to keep at it until I feel like I've gone far enough with it.
I'm done migrating all of the files from the customer's Server 2019 to their new SharePoint site. At first, I didn't like it because it was new and I didn't understand anything about it. After I understood it, I began to like it more and more. Now I love it.
There are some unique benefits to using SharePoint for the customer. They can easily add or remove users and grant the correct level of access.
One really cool feature is the customer can restrict assess all the way down to an individual document. Also, 2 or more users can collaborate on a document and you can see the changes being made in real time and it lets you know what user is making the changes in real time.
This would be easy to sell to any company that's not using it. Easy. Very easy to sell. Like taking candy from a baby easy.

No problem enjoy your mommy what did I learn in school today thread.
If you really think about it, isn't that the entire point of this forum? I figured out X or has anyone seen Y, I did: here's what fixed it.
If you don't like it, you don't have to read it. It's the same reason I stay out of the Rants and Raves area.
