My first 'dial-up' modem (terminal to mainframe) ran at 300 baud (bps) forty years ago.
That speed is one trillion times as fast.

That is nice for point to point but now for every day usage worldwide for now. Any data transmission is limited by the slowest connection in the link.

Yet most consumer devices are still no better than fast Ethernet (100Mbps). This will be a great advance for core connections between tier one network providers, but we're a long way between seeing something like this on the average home connection.
At least in the US, most home connections can't get a symmetrical connection (same upload and download speed), or even get quality internet at all.

I have a gigabit connection at home - real speed is around 80-90mb/s.
It's nice if you install a 80GB+ game like GTA V within 15 minutes but beside that it's kind of an overkill

Thats like extreme fast.
But Japan is only 18th place on speedtest global index.
