UEFI does not allow install of new SSD to boot from?

Have a new Lenovo PC. Cause of the crapware loaded and also because I want a larger SSD, I tried to install a new SSD leaving out the original NVMe SSD stick and since that didn't work, alternatively a complete new empty NVMe stick with the hope to install afterwards a fresh W10 new on it.

When I call up the UEFI settings none of drives in the previous scenario are visible, hence there is no chance to install either another NVMe stick nor normal SSD. Only thing recognized is the original NVMe stick the Lenovo came with. Played with "Secure Boot" settings but no avail.

    Any help please?

Is there a setting in the bios called "clear secure boot keys" or something like that?
When you think you have made a procedure idiot proof your company employs a better idiot.

What model of Lenovo? Big difference between their consumer models and the business class machines like ThinkPads. It sounds like there may be some kind of drive setting in the UEFI that's not correct. Also, are you certain that the new drive is good, and has the correct connection type for the mobo slot?

Re: UEFI does not allow install of new SSD to boot from?

The PC is a Lenovo ThinkCentre M720t. Factory new. Both SSD's where also brand new and I used for the NVMe the dedicated only slot for NVMe and for the normal SSD I tried all three available SATA connections.

I am used to, from other manufacturers, that their UEFI settings are done with a graphical interface with the option that a lot of adjustments can be made, but this Lenovo has a primitiv looking interface resembling the old Bios style not offering really any usefull settings.

    Thanks

Re: UEFI does not allow install of new SSD to boot from? ** SOLVED **

After another attempt to disable Secure Boot and some fiddling with the SSD settings manged to let it work with a standard SSD on SATA1 connector. The NVMe is not active (yet) but that is a minor problem. When I have time will look again after that.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Had a new Dell I just set up that had the drive control set for NVMe, which disabled the onboard SATA controller. It sounds like you found something similar.
