Any ideas on what to clean charge wire grids with ?

i have several charge wire grids that need cleaned on Sharp MX M 2300, 2700 and MX M3100 series machines... Anyone know how to clean them without having to replace. Seems like there would be something out there that would take off the oxidation or whatever it is.... Thanks so much for any feedback !!

I place the grid on white paper, squirt it with non-ammonia glass cleaner, then use a toothbrush to brush in the direction of the grain. Both sides. Pat it dry with a dry cloth. Hold the grid up to the light to identify any lint or fibers. Brush away any lint with a different clean toothbrush.

I've had some success with this method. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If I have to clean charge grids and even wires, I use a pen/typing eraser and follow up with alcohol. You have to be really freaking careful (and wires that are at their end of life will break so it's a good way to learn how to string them by hand), but otherwise it works great.
I haven't seen those erasers for some time, so I imagine they are kind of hard to come by. And you can't have mine.

I'll fold a sheet into a 'z' fold, and squirt isopropyl achohol into the fold. Grab the grid and pull it through that fold with a light grip. Do this several times until the paper comes clean.
It is not a fix, but a temp repair until replacement of the MC.

Simple Green works good too.. I usually just use a dry brush, but if the unit is fairly corroded I just replace it.

After you remove the grid off the corona frame,
use a small piece of clean 250-350 git wet and dry sand paper, use it dry and wipe slowly end-to-end one direction. Otherwise a drop of alcohol and small piece scour of pad.
You should already have 250 git sand paper in your tool bag for clutch and roller shafts.

You can clean corona charge wires with the "U" end of your metal spring hook.
It will remove any dirt and built up micro needle points along the wire causing high and low charge density along the drum. This also works for canon gold coated wires as well, as they tend to remove the gold coating in random places along the wire. Using a metal spring hook removes the entire gold coating and the wire will once again have uniform impedance and charge distribution along the entire length of the wire.

Otherwise if your not in a hurry, re-string the entire corona or grid with brand new corona wire. Most techs will tell you to restring the corona with new wire.

That may work for the corona wire (haven't tried that myself), but I would not recommend that for the grid.

Back in the day, we used Styrofoam(sp) cups to clean the grids. Roll the cup along the pointy side of the grid. It cleaned them very well!
