What chemicals do you use to keep your printer clean?

I have read a lot about the chemical synthesis elements and results of their application to the simple ones. Do you know anything for the printers? May be anybody uses?

Not sure if you mean to clean the covers but after many years using harsh chemicals I switched to all organic cleaners. Safer for me and the enviroment. Only difference now I have to scrub a lot harder with the brillo pad!

I use degreaser /auto mechanic grade/ to scrub the smog grime off the plastic covers (the spots that won't go with regular soap formula). Results are excellent.

    I carry 1 oz bottles:

    Isopropyl Alcohol 71%
Contractors De-Solv-It (orange oil based solvent, undiluted)
Glass Cleaner (formula: -20F 2Gal windshield washer solvent, 2Qts Vinegar Windex, 1Pt Cleaning Vinegar)
    Triflow Oil
    Marvel Mystery Oil
Straight 30W Motor Oil (scanner rail oil)
Canon EU-1 (plotter carriage rail oil)
    HP500 high temp grease
    Mobilgrease28
Paraffin Lamp Oil (or Dispersant if you can still get it)
    Zep Fast505

Honestly I haven't used the Marvel in a long time. Originally it was for Sharp plastic spring feed clutches, but is good for lubricating the tap when making threads.
The manufacturers must have refined the scanner construction. I haven't had to lubricate a scanner rail in ages.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

A long time ago I saw a xerox tech using gun oil for rail scanners, (birchwood casey's).

    Thanks BC...
You just triggered a light bulb moment for me.

My water taps are always cutting the rubber tap washer, which reduces their life. I believe I will try an place silicone grease inside the tap/plunger to allow the tap to twist while the rubber ring stays fixed to the watertight seat; at least for the first quarter turn. I feel the rubber washer tears its gripped by the rusty water tap and the watertight copper seat....

I will let you know if I get any extra life out of my tap washers....

I meant anything useful and reliable. To keep it clean as the screens of the different laptops etc. May be it is chemical one or not. Anyway, I want to have a good result and more leisure time.

Another RC for posting repeatedly this bolded underlined shit.
A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

For cleaning screens you cannot beat Windex.
