Sage Crystal Reports ignoring Copier Print Driver Default Settings

    Salutations!

I have a customer who's trying to print his Crystal Reports in B/W. As the title suggest, however, the print applet from the software ignores the print driver default settings.

I found talk of this is some forums that are to say the least, old, and do not offer any solutions.

Has anyone encounter this issue before?

    What brand copier printer?
You can try using the old print driver

You can also contact Sage for help and explain the issue most likely they have a solution.

So reports are printed in color instead of B/W? As a quick workaround I would try to remove one of color toners. Some MFPs will print color print job in B/W when one CMY toner is empty.

The software is causing this. Printing generally works on the following hierarchy:
    1. Software / program file came from
    2. Print driver settings
    3. Machine settings
Having gone a few rounds with Crystal Reports, the default paper source will have to be changed in the software itself. Some of these older software use PJL commands for everything, including default paper source.
Some makes, Toshiba comes to mind, have a program override feature to address this issue built into the print driver.

Re: Sage Crystal Reports ignoring Copier Print Driver Default Settings

The company I retired from used to be dealers for Mas 90 which later became Mas 100 before it was bought out by Sage. The software always was designed for printing to a dot matrix printer. It did not send page end form feeds. It just sent 66 lines per page. For customers with laser printers, every time they changed printers it usually meant having to go out and edit each form that the customer used. Otherwise multi page financials, check runs (like payroll) and invoice and statement runs would move either up or down a line or two with each page.

The main reason for Crystal Reports was to allow the creation of full color reports. If the customer does not want color they will need to use the Crystal Reports form generator to edit the forms.

If your customer is using the long discontinued SAP Crystal Reports V12 or earlier you are screwed. Most print vendors had problems with this version.

I won/ lost an entire City contract for 14 copiers because the City had to spend $35,000.00 to upgrade to a current version. They knew their Crystal Reports V12 product was way out of date but their money and priorities were elsewhere.
