Kyocera taskalfa 4053i very very faint copies

Hi guys.. im going to attend a call on a kyocera 4053ci with a very faint copy quality problem. customer is 215 miles away and there has be multiple calls and engineers out at it. its only 3500 clicks on it and it has had a new HVT/LVT/MAIN BOARD fitted. there is a couple of other same devices at the site so the other engineers tried dif dev units/ drum units and transfer belt unit in it but no joy. they stopped the machine mid cycle and the image on the belt was very faint. Any ideas before i go down to customer. ive worked on Toshibas for 18 years so dont have a lot of experience on these machines. to me the print samples look charge transfer related (NO ERROR CODES ATM).. Thanks in advance

I can't tell much from those image samples.

Does it affect a single color or multiple colors? Are you getting toner add conditions, and what colors? Have you done any adjustments/calibrations? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I had a 2 Series that randomly had a transfer roller spring missing. Took a while to figure out.

I would look for a connection problem between the transfer belt unit and the main frame that might affect the transfer current between the drums and the belt. Either the HV output or the transfer rollers not pressing the belt against the drums properly.

cheers, yeah the transfer belt connections is def top of my list to check. Apparently the transfer unit has been swapped out aswel Had a few toshibas with that problem. Worked on Toshibas for 18 years and have only started working on Kyoceras, they seem to react differently compared to tosh lol.. Just looking to get as many tips before heading down as its a 4hr plus drive so wont have a whole lot of time to troubleshoot and it has had quite a few calls on it with no results.Im being sent down as a fresh set of eyes. Machine has only 3.5k.
was there a code for low usage on these machines? Would the(image quality) sensors give any probs?

    thanks

hi, yes the previous engineers had tried all the calibrations etc. I havent seen or worked on the machine yet, going tomorrow morning but its a 4hr plus drive away so hoping to get as many tips before going. There has been multiple attempts to fix it so im being sent down as a set of fresh eyes. i worked on Toshiba for the last 18 years so not an expert on Kyocera.

    cheers

I wish I had something to offer you. The image quality seems to be pretty stable on the series, overall.

I think I'd start with a developer refresh, maybe 2 or 3 times, to see if the density comes back. If yes, the developer is not stirring often enough to maintain the tribo-electric effect. IIRC, there are settings to calibrate more frequently. I'll see what I can find.

If that works, you might try these settings: =^..^=

no worries, hoping its something simple. Maybe the last engineers forgot to push the wee buttons that engages the mag rollers on the dev units lol
