    1985-1990 Copier Wanted

Hello. I am looking for a functional copier that would have been available between 1985-1990. I am not terribly specific on brand but do have a couple of requirements on the type of machine I am looking for. I am specifically after a machine that does not have a document feeder and that the platen glass does not move when copies are being made. I am also looking for a machine that would have the original placed in the left center of the platen glass rather than up into the upper left hand corner. I realize this is rather specific but am after one for a certain purpose and function. Thank you in advance for any help and support.

I am intrigued with this post, what do you need this copier for, I'm guessing a film shoot?

From your specification I would suggest the Canon PC 7.

A Mita DC-313Z or DC-313ZD would fit that criterion. Sorry, I don't know where you would find one of those.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I had forgotten about the ones where the platen glass moved to scan the document. That's a blast from the past.

Perhaps he needs to copy from old books and does not want to damage the binding. I remember there were kits for old copiers that we installed for libraries where the area beyond the glass basically fell away at an angle so a book could be laid on the glass without the need to add 50 pounds of force so print could be copied near the bound side of the page.

The specs have me wondering too.

That is definitely part of it. I am mostly after something in my collection that I remember in a school. I am somewhat recreating a collection of old office equipment - a 3M Thermofax to make spirit duplicating masters, a Standard spirit duplicating machine, and now I am after the B/W copier. I am most after these specs because of nostalgia and not for any type of photo shoot or such. It's just an odd collection I am working on.

Yes, I never really cared for the machines that had the moving platen. Typically on smaller machines and personal copiers if I remember correctly.
