T1300 Postscript cutter causes error 86:01

i have cleaned and checked the encoder strip. The strip is in very good conditions , no scratches and all tiny lines and marks are still there .

The cutter issue during the initialisation is still there .

any other tips ?

yes i have tried this several times, it always stops with the message that the carriage needs lubrication. i have lubricated the carriage already a couple of times , with very thin oil ( WD 40 ) and when i move it from hand it moves smooth , but during calibration it trows out all the time the same message and didn't finish calibration.

During regular printing , all runs fine without error.

At the risk of sounding like an ass, I just want to note; WD40 will melt plastic. Petroleum products dissolve other petroleum products.

The bushings in the carriage are plastic.. that's why HP supplies synthetic oil with the printers.

You can use paper shredder oil too in a pinch.

A 3.5oz bottle (which has lasted me about 10 years) is $32 from HP. P/N 6040-0855

Under the Scan Axis test menu, there should be a choice to test the cutter. What happens when you do that?

Kiran, thx for the advise with the WD 40 . i didnt know that . I have tried the cutter menue , but it stops with the same result . I will try to get synthetic oil or original HP oil , the difficult is that i am located middle in the bush in Africa ( Kongo ) .

I'm assuming you cleaned the rail as well? I've had problems where little clumps of dirt get caught up in those bushings, and until I clean the rail, oil it, clean it again, oil it again, the rail isn't quite slippery enough.

After that, I'd guess at the carriage motor.

well thats actually what i did, i cleaned the rail with a similar thin oil like wd 40 . i didnt sprayed the oil inside the bushings , only on the rail. What i must say is that this plotter was standing in a dusty envoirement for about 10 month without use .

As i say before , all is working well , only during the initialisation the cutter cause the error. If you mount the cutter after initialisation ( startup ) , the plotter is doing fine .

I wouldn't put too much weight into what the test says. As long as the carriage moves freely by hand from end to end and not binding somewhere.. I would think it's OK.

well, then i still have the issue with the cutter .... when its mounted it is not moving far enough back to release it .

will do tomorrow a video from the one plotter who is working and the one who gives me issues and post it .
