Re: HP M775z lines from transfer belt

While the installation manual for printers clearly states that printers need to be on a level surface, often that is not checked very closely. With this printer series, confirming that the installation surface is level is critical. Waste toner can build up and cause problems at less than 40k pages. If the waste toner issue is left too long, the toner can scratch the belt or damage the seals in the waste toner collector and then you have to replace the whole transfer belt.

Re: HP M775z lines from transfer belt

This seems to be an issue on all the latest models, from the A4 up to A3 colour ranges. I must have went through numerous belts at £300 plus after early failure. I did find a supplier who refurbed them and offered me 120,000 pages off of these belts. I have been using him constantly for 1 year now and have yet to have an early failure on any belt. Touchwood! The price was half of what i was paying from HP and they are lasting the pace. If anyone is interested from me a mail on mcdoo23@googlemail.com

Our customers failed at 40% Life, using Remanufactured toners as of now, but most of that usage was with OEM...

I did deconstruct the old Belt, was interesting, and definitely messy.

The only solution that has worked for me is to vacuum out the cleaning blade unit every month or two.

I recently purchased a used M775 and when I got it home it was doing this.

I pulled the transfer belt out, carefully popped the cover off the waste end (only a few clips), and vacuumed the toner out.

After that, zero issues on the very next print!

Hope this helps someone in the future.

I think it's a poor design. It should use a proper auger instead of a coiled wire.

One thing I've wondered, since I have often seen a big wad of lint when I've cleaned out the cleaning blade area, is the customer using a cheap or recycled paper, or is it a dusty environment? Or are they printing labels and gumming up the blade?
