Scanner 4500 (HP Designjet) hard drive failure
Hi, if I have hard drive failure on an HP Designjet 4500 Scanner panel PC, I do this, right?:
1. Install replacement formatted hard drive. And
2. Run recovery DVD.
This should take care of it, right?
Thanks

Correct.
I recommend getting a PIDE to M.2 SSD adapter and using a SSD. Makes it a bit faster.

Kiran, do you have a link to one of those?
Thanks very much.

The adapter is like this: https://smile.amazon.com/44pin-Conve.../dp/B06XC36V63
Then you can choose a m.2 SSD in the size you want.
By the way, I'm assuming the drive IS a parallel-IDE 2.5" laptop drive in there. I don't recall them ever getting to SATA drives. If so, replacing it with a SATA SSD is even easier.

OK, I need the caddy and adapter. I cannot just use the adapter alone. Right? Such as this on ebay:

Thanks

That adapter you linked to might work. It would allow you to use a plain SATA SSD. Not sure how you'd mount that or if it would fit inside correctly. I recommend using one like the one I linked.
This is another I've used that was a bit nicer. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017VQT5YW
