    HP 3035 Cassette

Never worked on a 3035 before, so I ask this.
Letter paper tray 2. does not release and spring the paper up to the rollers.
I see how it is supposed to work but inserting the cassette just doesn't release the plate.
I see nothing wrong at all and am wondering if the two metal plates on the bottom of the printer might be bowed
    even though they look straight.
I have years of copier experience but just inherited 67 hp printers.
    On these I'm a rookie.
Any input on this cassette thing.
When cassette 2 is inserted, the metal plate stay down and doesen't lift.
My world now includes HP along with Kyocera, Toshiba and Lexmark
    ???

What I see most of the time is the "paper amount flag hook" (for lack of better terminology) gets dislodged. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about should look like. Half of the hook should be on top of the plate and the other half of the hook underneath it.

Many... many condolences on your new acquisition(s). So what’s your fall back career? Lol, kidding! All good. If, IF it’s the type of cassette that the release tab is rite in the middle, and it hits the bump on the steel support bar on the bottom of the machine when you slide it in, then you can simply bend the bar slightly up in the middle to make better contact. If it’s a different style then hopefully someone else here has a solution for you. If all else fails, try swapping the cassette out with another machine. Good luck.

Ok. The paper present sensor was moving freely like it should but was too far to the right. Sliding it back in place resolved it.
I also realized the paper doesn't lift when you insert tray. That's normal.
