    pagewide XL 4000 error

I am getting a 0010-0010-0059 error after every print job. You have to reboot the machine each time. I ran the tests in service and the error occurred when I did the mechanical movement test. I am thinking it is the motor or encoder itself. Anyone seen this as something else?

    Nope.

But it is a spittoon belt motor error ... that is: the motor the drives the belts to position the spittoon is not detected spinning. It could have ink on the timing wheel. Or the motor may not be able to turn.

BE SURE that the printbar can cap, or those printheads will clog in a hurry, and cost a lot.
    =^..^=

EDIT: Did I forget to mention? The transmissions are timed gear drives. If you remove either of the transmissions you'll need to time the assembly. So it's preferable to leave the transmissions attached.

Personally I think that you're in over your head on this one. A smart tech knows when to take a step back ... and say no, thank you. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I replaced the transmission assembly and all is working great!

Blackcat, I hope to hell you are not in charge of any other technicians because you would be the guy no one likes. You're probably that guy anyway! No one comes here to be belittled by a guy like you yet, here you are, sitting behind your computer, telling people that they are out of their league. I am fully trained on these models and tons of other models. I posted my question because this is a low volume machine and was surprised it failed so early. I see Kiran is no better than you are! Thanks for nothing. Maybe other techs will see this and you'll maybe gain a little respect for other people in this field.

It's alright if you don't like me.

You're initial post had very little specific information, indicating to me that you hadn't even given a thought to a manual. If you'd like us to assume that you know what you're doing, maybe you should include a little more specific information.

Having read quite a few posts, I do not assume that all posters have done their manual reading or have any specific background to do the task their asking about.

Congratulations on solving your issue. =^..^=

I think you have blackcat all wrong. One of the nicest and most helpful guys that you'll ever meet. And he's a top tech, no doubt.

Service code on the Pagewide XL is a USB dongle that is how you are able to get into the service mode. You can call the support line if you are trained and they can give you a one time pin to get into service mode or at least they did that for me once
