    Designjet T2300mfp scanning problem

    Hi
Got a customer with a t2300 that has some problems with scanning, it leaves some yellow fields on the scans ( cis sensor?) and also it stops scanning in the middle of the sheets, and finishes the scan and generates a file without any error.
The motor diagnostic worked but doing a scanner validation it doesnt pull the sheet trough error 09:01 (jam), if helping the scanner and push the diagnostic sheet trough it fails with a focus limit message.
these problems started at the same time.

any one has any ideas ?

Have you printed off the error log? There's lots of handy information on it. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ending part way through the scan sounds like a dirty or bad media sensor. Hit them with some compressed air.

I know it might sound obvious but make sure the top cover of the scanner is pushed down fully and latched on both sides. If only one side is latched you will have problems with it taking sheets and skewing.

Aside from that, I'd recommend running the calibration sheet. If you're having to help it through then it sounds like the top cover isn't latched down properly. Have someone press the top cover down while you try to load the sheet; if that helps then you need to adjust the latches. I had to do this once but I don't remember exactly what I had to do. I basically loosened them and then re-tightened them so they latched more tightly. If the top is not holding the sheet down completely the media sensors may think the sheet has reached the end and stop the scan.

I found this on a T2530 a couple times. Watch for:

"!Scan. The scanner is not available now.", "09:01" [1611665421], "09.1:10" [1611665409], "09.10:10" [1611665418], "79.2:04" [-1161953269]. The retaining screw backs out of the pulse wheel. The pulse wheel falls off, not detecting motor rotation. Requires T10 and T15 bits. Use threadlock to secure pulse wheel screw.

This pertains to a T1100, but, may be a clue to your issue:

I had a similar issue and replaced the Plate Piston (don't think this was the problem, though). I also ran the Automatic Thickness Adjustment Control procedure. After running that, the scanner successfully pulled paper.

There was nothing recent in the error log, and after having a talk with hp support, there are lots of obselete part that might need replacing, scanner controlboard and a few cis elements. wich ends up at about the half price for a new printer, so we have suggested replacing the printer. well se what they choose. not that excited to start replacing a lot of fairly expensive ebayed replacement parts

I have similar situation going on. No errors, just stops 12 to 24" on scan and saves file. I am aiming to replace paper sensors in scanner there are 4 of them. I had couple techs says flakey hdd can cause weird issues. I did eeprom reset with firmware update, made no change. Sensors, formatter with hdd and scanner board are my next 3 parts to change. May do formatter and hdd last, unless someone has some wisdom on this. Thank you in advance.

    This is 99% media sensor.

    Re: Designjet T2300mfp scanning problem

I had a customer with exactly these problems.

Couldn't scan large sheet... or sometimes it would scan a few inches, then stop, as if it scanned the whole thing... And what it did scan, half of it had yellow tint.

I had them order the calibration sheet. I ran that, and it took care of the yellow.

Then I unplugged and re-plugged the media sensors in the scanner.

It all worked after that. If the problem had continued, I guess I would have just replaced the media sensors. It looks like one is to sense when the scanner is shut, one is to sense when you are trying to feed something, and then one on each side of the scanner so it can tell where the edges are.
