    HP P3005 13.01 from tray 2

I have several HP P3005 that i work on and lately i have been experiencing problems with error code 13.01. my usual fix is to replace the pick up roller and sep pad in the tray, remove the reg assm to clean reg roller and reg sensor, and remove paper guild to reach the paper feed roller to clean them. This has been working form for a long time but for some reason few printers keep giving me jams in the tray. If i watch the pickup roller from the rear of the try i can see that the roller is turning as it should but the roller will not always grab the paper even with a brand new roller. Does anyone have any ideas for me to try? I don't think it is a formatter because i can see the roller spinning.

You most likely have checked but anytime I have a jam problem first thing I do is take a look at the paper tray. That,s where all jams start? Did customer drop tray and something is bent ?

I have had a few do this identical thing. I stretched the springs in the paper tray fixed some... and also replaced the paper tray itself

I did try to stretch the springs out but didn't help any. But what i did do for the one particular printer is swap tray with another printer. tested about 400 sheet and never skipped a beat. the weird thing is the other printer i swapped the from works just fine with the tray in question. go figure. My customer is not using the proper print drive (using 5P & 6P drivers). even though its odd i don't believe that it would cause the 13.01 code.

Check the operation of tray 2 pickup solenoid (SL2). Every time it engages, you should hear paper feed from tray 2. More then likely the solenoid is sticking. The foam used to silence the click when the solenoid is activated will wear down to the adhesive causing it to stick. The part number is RK2-1492-000.

I agree, however, I just clean off the foam pad and all the sticky stuff off. Then i wrap electrical tape around where the foam was, about 3 turns. Ive done this to many printers and no issues.
