HP LaserJet 4250n Paper Feed Drive Assembly

How do I access the paper feed drive assembly to repair the paper feed solenoid/clutch for the overfeeding issue this printer has? Thank you for any help given.

One way to help localize the area where what you are looking for is is to check where the feed roller gets its drive from.
That being said, I think all you need to do is remove the right hand cover, and look in the lower part of the front of the area that is exposed.
At least that's all I've ever done to check the feed solenoid on HP's LJ42XX series machines. For trays 2 and beyond, anyway.

Unless it's for tray 3... then you have to separate the whole unit from the machine and just start taking it apart.

If you get the right cover off (for tray 2), you should be able to just get your screw driver in there and unscrew the solenoid. It can even dangle from the wire while you're doing the fix.

More than 90% of the time it's the pad on the solenoid wearing out and causing the flapper to stick. Remove the pad and put new felt (not too thick).

Check the bushing hasn't broken or come loose. Sometimes that's the case.

Sometimes a bad torque limiter in the tray is cause.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Wow! Keep starting a new thread on the same question. The answer to your question is: page 278 in the service manual, a detail information in removing the covers for optional 500 sheet feeder.
