Lexington, KY (Nov. 23, 2020) — Lexmark International, the Lexington, Kentucky-based industry manufacturer, has begun laying off workers nationwide as a result of economic conditions stemming from the pandemic, the Lexington Herald Leader reported late last week. The OEM did not provide any specifics as to the number of cuts that will be implemented, nor the regions that would be impacted. The company has 8,000 employees worldwide, with 2,000 based in the United States. About 1,400 are employed in Lexington. In a statement, Lexmark told the newspaper the moves are being made to align its business with structural market changes due to the pandemic and ensure long-term success.
