    C6500 Jamming at ADU

    Hi All

Wondering if I can get a little help

I have a C6500 Machine that jams at the entrance of the ADU, it seems to run thin A4S sheets ok through tray 1 but anything bigger or heavier it jams, I believe the reason for it is that conveyance clutch 2 may not be engaging

A little bit of history before I go to far, this machine got some water damage a few months ago and has not been used since, we have another c6500 that has done alot of work and was deemed as a parts machine so have robbed a host of boards from it and now have the machine printing again (A4)

    Parts we have swapped out
    Printer Control Board
    Overall Control Board
    Image Processing Board
    All 4 dev motors

There is no ADU in the parts machine so I don't simply have spares cluches and possible conveyancing board to throw in it so what i am wanting to know is if there is a way to test the clutches and or the conveyancing board to see what I need to replace

The jam codes I am getting depend on the tray that it is being fed from but J-1702 or a 1706 from memory is what it is throwing up

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers,
    Paul

The only way to test a clutch is in State Confirmation mode. Find the I/O code for the clutch and see if it activates or not. You can also try swapping it with another clutch in the ADU. Unfortunately there are only 4 clutches of that type (ADU Conveyance clutch is an A03UM20100). I believe that there is a 24V test point on the CDB. You should check to see if that is still present and the 5V test point as well. Otherwise you will need to replace the clutch and maybe the CDB.

    Thanks for your reply

All the clutches on the ADU are functioning fine, all the motors on the ADU are fine and also the paper feed motor that drives the entrance rollers on the ADU is also working

Could it simply be a timing issue?
Is there a function to modify the timing?

    Cheers

Have you checked to see if the diverter gates are in the right position? May be it would be possible to
have a piece of paper in the path then test the motor and clutches?
Is there any damage to the lead edge of the paper?
    I haven't seen a C6500 for a couple of months now.
Did you tell the machine it has heavier paper?

Actually we got to the bottom of it this morning, as it turns out it was simply the connector for the vertical paper sensor on the PRCB, it was slightly out on one end which was not allowing the sensor to work, a simple re-seat and it was good to go

sometimes it is the simplest things
