I thought the B&W and color were the same but after looking at part #'s it shows exclusive to the B&W 454e & 554e NOT color units. Learn something everyday. Probably would of known this but I have been rebuilding the trans belt units the last few years with new aftermarket belt & blade for under $100.
454e & 554e transfer belt part # A61DR70022D
If the belt is the same lenght and the blade the same then you could build that over if you really want to take that risk.
Best way is to try and shove it in there, would wonder if the retraction part for the color would be in the way...

Seen them fitted before (by mistake) & they work ok but they’re probably more expensive than the mono ones.

nope ,no color rollers or the retraction system on the mono unit.
It makes sense...
It is propably everything the same, just missing color rollers on bw type of transfer belt
A color belt on a BW copier. I have done that without thinking. The copier still worked fine. The BW models do not have the color transfer rollers and now sensor lever for them. Just cost more the color.

The transfer belt of a C554 color equipment has 4 rollers of 1st transfer one for each color
Monochrome 554e only has a 1st transfer roller
