C1070 versus C70HC in print quality, etc, have a 6500P and a C480

Quick questions re whether the C1070 versus the C70HC.

They look real similar on paper. Speed, thickness of stock, duty cycle but what about clarity?

How much of a upgrade is the C1070 versus the 6500P? Is the HDe toner and other improvements significant, or neglible. Our 6500 has a fiery, am considering a 1070 with a fiery, low realitve use, but mileage will vary with operators, especially when used as a office printer, instead of a production piece.

We did purchase the C70HC, still under PM contract so it is a real nice piece, and will print photo books that have been outsourced to Indigo printers in the past.

Am considering adding the off-lease C1070 as well, especially as it isn't even of the EOL list as of yet.

Use of 6500P currently: Medical manuals, with increasing amounts of color.

The C1070 is a nice machine, great quality. Do you know that its been updated to C2070, then C3070?

You'll be have trouble getting consumables for that 6500 ... probably right now. =^..^=

We still run a C6501 - never had an issue getting parts or supplies.

C70HC is the C7000 version, the C71HC is the C1070 Version. High Chroma (HC) is really just modified Developer and Toner (MORE EXPENSIVE and EOL faster then the main boxes), allowing wider color gamut. Honestly unless you doing art prints your better off with the C1070 or C2070. C2070 opens the door to 350gsm duplex and vacuum paper feed unit.

Either way spend the money on the external fiery, pro80 version. Will help with setup and adjustments.

What's your monthly volume... May want to look at a C1100.

Thanks good to know re the C1070, yes am aware that they have been updated to the 2070/3070 which will run a bit thicker stock, same consumables, more monthly cycle, but five times the delivered price for new versus lightly used is better for me to purchase used, and if it gets maxed out, then buy lightly used C3070 at that point or C6085, etc.

New is perfectly ok when its for a fortune 500 company types, not our small busines. Buy our equipment with cash, nice to own everything and not have a monthly nut. Leaves me more to give out at the end of the year $ which is preffered by just about all!

We too don't have an issue with parts and materials for the C6500, it looks like the C70HC will cost just about the same to run as the C6500 with toner, developer, drums, just about all of them except for toner are compatible/same parts as C6500 which warms my cheap heart.

Thanks for the advice on the fiery, for the C1070. I know my main operator would love it, we have fiery for the C6500, but thats an antique compared to the pro80. All comes down to the price for this one.

We self maintain for the C6500.

Will be looking at per click on the newer machines, if they are too costly, will just bite the bullet and put in service calls when needed, our volumes currently aren't that high, print is one part of our service offering, but its not the core business.

I Just want to improve the quality of the print to be able to color match our dye sublimation opitical discs, and also match some of those pesky blue Pantone colors, without resorting to costly inkjet which is the worst case scenario as its akin to lighting cash on fire.

Will be using the C70HC for a few photo books, so that one will come in handy.
