For the hanging you could look at firmware and the HDD.
Shows that you are not familiar with the machine asking about the preventative maintenance message.
The message gets displayed if a preset counter value set in service mode gets reached and must be reset after inspection and maintenance.
Its one of the more challenging machines out there.

Install 250K maint kit, drum & developer. Do ALL 10 peculiarity adjustments by the book!

For hanging, update F/W. Very important if really old F/W to upgrade in steps. Don't just jump to latest F/W.
