just in case someone was looking for the solution, it is to set bit switch 227 to hex 00 hit fix.
It was software SW 227: it had for some reason been set ot set itself to 80, setting it back to 00 fixed it. Maybe the firmware update was the cause.
I edited my post because I could not see an option to delete and I since read the manual and sorted it.
