Re: 458e shuts down during job

We rarley, if ever, put a MFP on a UPS..surge supprssor always, but the size of a UPS required to keep an MFP running is pretty big..Instantaneous power failures..in Service mode under counters..Would indicate a problem with wall voltage or the surge supporessor itself. E

In other cases it was the faulty power strip (in the manual it is forbidden to connect to these devices but 50% of customers ignore this rule). It did not support printer loading.

There are no errors listed on the instantaneous power failure counters. A handful of power surges recorded on the power filter, not sure if they line up with the shutdowns or not. I'll have to download the data off the power filter to be sure.

Never plug copiers into the Battery Backup outlets on a UPS. Only use the "Surge Protection Only" outlet. The internal battery can't properly supply the current load of a copier or laser printer. My 2 cents...

There are UPS devices that can support a copier, but they are not cheap. A 15A copier requires 1800Watts (P=IV) capacity. The typical computer battery backup is rated at 500Watts. We have successfully used UPS devices on Kyocera devices to overcome power deficiencies. You can watch the power monitor LED flicker On each time the MFP fires up. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'm co-signing the co-sign, check if there are other devices on the same circuit that could be drawing enough to dip the overall power below what the copier needs. Things with pumps or motors that kick on periodically could be causing overdraw (fridges, freezers, air compressors etc)

Could also just be an actual fault on any high draw components too, the whole situation screams 'not enough juice'

Edit> Sorry missed that you said you checked the counter... although the fact that it's not completely shutting off could be why it's not being added to the counter.

Just to clarify, the copier isn't on a UPS. It's on the standard power filter that we sell with every machine. I swapped it out with another one, just so I could test the one they had, and it had the same problem later that day.

That ESP is a good power filter/surge protector, but no device like that will protect the equipment against a brownout, which is bad news for copiers and printers.
Have you considered putting a voltage monitor on the same circuit, to see what the voltage is doing during the course of a couple of days?
