If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Got it! Ok, so here's another one....
After plugging in the USB stick with the firmware files on it, and powering on the machine, rather than booting into Firmware update mode as expected, I get another error, C-FA14.
According to my searching, this seems to be a faulty HDD or firmware glitch. The suggested action is to update the FW and/or replace the HDD. The firmware update is exactly what I'm trying to do.
I'm wondering if the HDD wasn't properly uninstalled in software?
Does this mean that possibly it's not reading my USB stick, or is there something else I'm supposed to be doing to kick it into Firmware loading mode?
Also, is there a way to get into Service Mode before the error trips, or do I have to let it finish booting first?
I believe there's a hard Utility key. Hold Utility while powering up to enter service mode.
You do have to format the drive in service mode before the firmware.
If you've got these things right, maybe it doesn't like your hard drive.

I don't have a HDD installed at the moment. I was going to update the FW and make sure the machine is functional before buying a new drive.
Going to search for the Utility key now, thanks.
Progress!
Also, I'm an idiot, and I mean that in all capital letters...IDIOT.
All this time, something has been nagging at me, because little things have not been adding up here and there.
I finally figured out what it is: This is NOT a model c364e, it's a 364e, no 'C'.
I'm sure you're all are giggling right now because that's an obvious difference to you and you'd never make the mistake of buying a monochrome copier, thinking it was a color machine.
Me, being me, got excited and jumped the gun without looking quite close enough at the description and photos. Of course, I didn't even know there was both a color and mono machine with such similar model numbers until just a few days ago, but that's no excuse.
On the upside, after logging into service mode and uninstalling the (nonexistent) HDD in software, the errors went away and I have a fully functional machine, or so it appears thus far.
Having a mono machine also greatly reduces the consumable costs, so all is not lost, but I still feel like a moron, and would not have paid quite as much for the machine.
Oh well, live and learn.
That explains why I couldn't get it to accept the firmware on the flash drive. Of course not, it was the wrong FW for this machine!
Is there any way a mod could edit the title of this thread, so-as not to mislead anyone else finding it later, thinking this was useful info about a model c364e?
