You can actually use developer from most Bizhub models, I even used some from an old C552 cyan image unit I was about to throw away!

So now before I throw these units away I decant out the old developer & use it to top up depleted ones.

How do you go about dividing the developer from the toner? With a magnet?

Well no, pretty much all KM toner is the same.

Believe it or not I have even used the waste toner to top up depleted dev units as that's where the developer ends up. I only do this as a last resort, it takes a lot more to top up as there is a lot more toner in the waste than developer. The machine will now obviously have too much toner & will be brown! However running around 50 full bleed prints out of the colour I topper up the prints will eventually look perfect again.

This is interesting. I have found it easy to replace the toner bottle cap. So theoretically they are doing this just to get money spent on new toners? I hope there is a difference.

Kinda like converting goold old C253 series imaging units back in the days. Theres also "non oem" dev available - tried that a few times with no issues occuring (surpringsingly^^).

Now the toners are not all the same. Up to the C253 range the toner is not changeable with the newer stuff. Been there done that and cried.
All the current toner is just if it has developer add or not. TN414 works on TN015 and in reverse then TN414 works on the color machines like a C364.
    Whatever

Never done it but i think trowing it in a bowl of water could help. Skim off the floating toner and the dev should drop to the bottom.
    Then sundry the developer?
    Whatever
