brand new machine out of the box.
Can save a lot of time by simply slipping the belt off and spinning the coupling in both directions by hand. If the noise is there you got your answer.

Ok, its done...
Do not replace with a new drive gear. In my case i made a modification.
If you make it for the first time calculate with 60min its really tight. And after i think you need about 35min maybe less with a bit practice.
1. take out fuser
2. take away upper and lower backcover
3. take out your drive gear, 4 cable-connections, 1 fan
4. put in washers to the movable gear to bridge the gap total 2.5mm with washers 6mm inside diameter, put in your drive gear
5. important! reseat the transferbelt again, or remove it at the beginning. (you get an error code, gap between gears)
6. enjoy the silents

Now i'm off work and on the weekend... a longer test run will be done next week.

A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost, he who sows courtesy, reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.

I don't reply to private messages from end users.
So it's probably clicking at the helical gear face. That looks very similar to the 454e, 554e fuser drive packs, sans the clutches.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

After a test of 3'000 papers in testmode the drive gear is still silent.
If you look at the detail metall motor gear and spaced plastik gear, this picture is before i put in the washers

and after

I had time today to play around.
On the original drive gear it works perfekt 100% silence. On the drive gear that i have ordered you can hear the ticking noise sometime but ony if you now there is a ticking noise so 95% silence.
@Bix
What do you mean with " to allow the fuser roller hook to be flexible without creating damage". I can't see any relation to the fuser roller?
Now i haven't time any more for this...
Open question:
- Why i got a new drive gear with the same problem? I guess this was delivered from stock with older production date. The older manufactured c250i does not have this ticking noise so it's not logical.
- will this mod persists more than 100'000 sheets
- maybe if you add spacer under the 4 screws on the motor plate you have the same effect and without removing the drive gear, it will be mucht faster.
1. Mine is just a hypothesis about the reason for that space. I am talking about the component indicated by the arrow.

To facilitate insertion of the fuser unit, it retracts inward. From what I have seen, the motor starts all those gears.
2. The problem also occurs in the second piece because perhaps the problem comes from somewhere else. Don't get me wrong. The problem is definitely in that area but maybe other part of the c250i pushes that gear incorrectly, always causing the noise.
For example, I have discovered that I have a defective paper exit unit. After replacing the fuser, the squeaking problem disappeared for a month. But strangely it's back. I took apart the paper exit unit and discovered that an internal plastic part was broken. So why had replacing the fuser solved my problem for a while? These are the mysteries of the machines.
