Using Bizhub Pro 951 IC Controller on Press 1052

Anybody have experience cross using an IC Controller from a 951 onto a Press 1052/1250? I have a customer with a failing controller in a 1052. Problem is that I have a plethora of 951 controllers on hand, but no 1052/1250. They are the same unit for both models but use a different firmware set. I tried to connect one to the machine but due to a firmware level mismatch (Image Control 52 vs IC Version 20) I get the C-C136 code. So when I try to update the controller firmware to level 52 (1052/1250 version) I get an ISW error. I just updated the controller to level 52 on a 951 but again, I had to load the 951 version. I'm hoping that maybe by being at level 52 and beyond the C-C136 I can re-flash it to the 1052 version.

Is there any way to blow out the old firmware to load a virgin instruction set?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lee

Nope! Took it over to our resident 1250 and got a C-C136 and an ISW error (01) trying to update. Think I am screwed.

Awesome thanks. I'm going to attempt to just change the hard drive today and see what happens. If no go expect a PM from me. I have another 1052 here in my shop awaiting a refurb that I can grab a controller from in the interim but would prefer to keep it intact.

Same part number but different instruction set. I figure if the hard drive replacement doesn't cure it, I should be able to put the 951 controller in and swap out the EEPROM and/or the NVRAM seen here.
