BizHub 1050 with Please insert key counter message

Trying to figure out how to get rid of the message on a BizHub 1050 that always says "Please insert key counter". The light around the Start button is red and you can't make a copy.

Hope this helps but I have never wroked on a 1050. Have worked on minoltas for awhile and this applies to most of the bizhubs. First hit utility-counter- then stop,0,0,stop,0,1 should get you in the service mode. Then hit stop,9 and select key counter then turn it off.

I went into the service mode but hitting stop 9 didn't do anything.

I saw that message on a 470, and the cause was the AC DUCT DRIPPING ON THE MACHINE. Hope that is not your problem. Stop-Start is also a sub menu from tech rep mode.

have you checked the jumper on the backside of the copier. Has it been removed? Is it shorted out? Thats all that enables the key counter. there are dipswitches that you can change for the message and functionality with key counter, but not a disable/enable.
The jumper should be on the upper right looking at the copier from the back.

if its had a key counter fitted and then removed there will be a small jumper that needs to go back into the loom.
