Does it appear only while using the DF? You can also manually feed a piece of paper through the DF while it's open, maybe the paper is catching something and pushing it through. On very rare occasions I have seen dirty optics, something on the mirrors themselves, cause lines like the typical scan lines due to a dirty scan slit glass. The biggest tell is if the line goes all the way edge to edge or if there's a deletion at the edges, if there's a deletion then it's optics.

Only way I can get rid of. It was to go into service mode under machine/scan area and make the adjustment there.

So just to be clear did that adjustment fix issue permanently? I've never seen that and want to make sure so I know the fix if I ever see it.

    Thanks

Yes it removed the line. Had to crank it to 5.0.

still have a slight skew and don’t have the test chart for that so going to have to mess with the dreaded adjustment screw in the right hinge 😩

yes unfortunately I know about the right hinge screw adj. but it usually takes care of slight skew.

I have several of the test charts that come with feeders. If you want to PM me your address I will send you one.

yeah that indeed looks like the scan area/registration adjustment was way off - are the moveable DF paper guide including the toothed gear reck mechanism in correct position for properly centering the originals? I'd assume that the white area on the paper DF passage would not be visible on scans but the material is very glossy so perhaps this can lead to this purple background.
