Yes, the machine has a hard drive. The hard drive is enabled and working. I can download the scanned files from the web interface or the SMB shared folder on the bizhub its self.

You mention "public user" but I cannot tell from your picture that authentication is enabled. Do you mean the default scan screen is missing the SMB icon?
1. Did it ever work?
2. What happened just before it disappeared?
3. Was any 3rd party app added that may have taken control of the Open API?
There are several settings that can remove or modify what can be selected using direct input, but I can't find any way to remove just the SMB icon.
1) It has not worked since I purchased this machine second hand.
2) The machine was previously owned by the government, I had to disable the piv/cac so that I could us it in my small office environment.
3) Unknown. The machine had the hard drive removed, I replaced the HDD, formatted the SSD, reset the settings, updated the firmware and expected that all of the original standard functions would be available.
I can create addresses in the address book for SMB. I can create groups and access the groups, but cannot access the member in the group that is a SMB. The machine does not allow me to choose the SMB from the scan panel.

next time lead with this info..
CAC/PIV is setup with both firmware and softswitch changes. This keeps anyone from changing anything unless they take it out of CAC/PIV mode.
You need to find the CAC/PIV setup instructions and change the listed items back to their defaults. It's going to be 2 softswitches and a non CAC/PIV F/W. E
