PS17, 24 & 25 I/O checks out in Mode 47, but I see no change in MS1, MS2 (25-04)when error occurs (stays high). Re-seated connectors on switches and DCPS2, switches test OK & 24V at FT1, FT2 of DCPS2. Chasing a ghost.
If it happens again, I'll change out DCPS2.
I'm sure you realize with the "DI" series being 20+ yrs old that strange issues could be many things. Been a long time since I worked on a DI model but if the front door interlock is a Cherry type switch just replace it. Although you might be on to something with the PS since those old models used interlocks to cut power, fuser, etc.
Caught it in the act Friday evening, 24V PS shut down. Replaced PS2 and all is right with the world.
