    DHCP failure

    Here's the scenario..

Account with about 30 KM MFPs. Due to unstable power to the building it's common for power to go out at least once per week. The issue here is their network switches take about 8-10 min to come to ready. The KMs are ready in 2 min, and have given up on getting a DHCP request after about 5 min which results is a APPIPA address being assigned (169.254.x.x). 5 min later the switch is up and ready, but the MFP is no longer sniffing about for a DHCP reservation. No printing or scanning is possible until someone walks the 5 floors and restarts power to each machine. They have been living with this for 3 years, and know it's not an issue with the KMs but in the bid for a refresh they have found that other vendors devices, and all the laptops and PCs are able to "try again". Soft switch 219 set to a 1 will force the machine to continue trying to get a response. Another tidbit not mentioned in the KM manuals..

Because the customer told us their switch will only hand out DHCP address. Static IPs are auto blocked. Typical government account..

Not all switches are listed in the manual, as nobody wants a 3000 page manual.

Enabling DHCP retries if an IP address is not assigned by the DHCP server
There may be times where the MFP boots and becomes ready before a DHCP server provides an IP address, i.e. a power outage in a small office. When this occurs, it is necessary to reboot the MFP to cause it to request an IP address.

To avoid this situation, or similar situations, the following soft-switches may be set.
    1. [Color 4e series] Special firmware ONLY
    a. Software SW No.219 (bit 0) is only implemented on a specific customized ROM

    • DLBT1500514EN00: GW4-J6

    2. [bizhub 4050] On bizhub 4050, Software SW No.285 (bit 6) will be relevant for the same function.
    a. It is also available on the latest ROM indicated below:

    • DLBT1811542EN00: A6F730GEC00-W51

    b. Software SW No.285 (bit 6)0x00:

    • Disable (default)
    • 0x40: Enable

    3. bizhub 8 series and newer
    a. Software SW No.219 (bit 0)

    • 0x00: Disable (default)
    • 0x01: Enable

Note: When this function is enabled, DHCP Discovery will be executed periodically after AUTO IP is set, and the acquisition of IP addresses from the DCHP server will be executed.Originally Submitted:05/01/2019

Would be best if switches were on a UPS so they never go down

Which government is this that it is the norm to have such regular power outages!? I'm guessing you are not in Washington DC.
