Not a thing. I actually texted my rep this morning as I was working on a 4053ci with the 3000 sheet finisher. It was getting a 6510, which is the same jam on the larger finisher. I'm convinced it as to do with the settings in U246. The one I was at today, was -4 +4 -13 -12. I'd like to know how/why they are not at default. Someone has to change them. It really seems to affect 8-1/2x11R. Obviously they're not folding if they're using the 1k sheet finisher, so I would change the trays to letter portrait.
Have had similar case on Iris 2 today.
Finally technician set Width Front HP + Width Tail HP from "0" to minus "4".
At the moment system is working well since 500 pages.
A switch in the bundle eject section has been changed from a conventional push switch to an optical type.
There is a bulletin for this and it is supposed to address the 6510, 6511 jams on DF-7110 and DF-7120 finishers.
The QA does not mention the jamming, only "improving the durability".
This is only to be attempted by techs with good disassembly skills. I did one and it took me a long time. There is a trick to putting the belts back on the gears that move the side frames. You come across this when the wiring is installed for the new sensor.
After 28 months, it looks like we might start seeing firmware to possibly resolve this issue. I'm not holding my breath though. This was released for the 7002i, 8002i & 9002i. Here's what it says in the release notes:
J6310/J6510 might occur if paper delays during continuous staple paper feed
If paper delays during continuous staple paper feed, number of the bundle sheetsbecome illegal in the internal process, then the next paper might be conveyedwithout securing the necessary bundle interval and Jam6310/Jam6510 might occur.
I know this is an old thread but I have to do one of these. I was going to do it in the customers office but it got too involved so I rescheduled it. I got it apart to the point where the only thing that I think was holding the assembly in was that thin silver piece that is connected to the shaft with the little paddles on it. Any pointers on how to get the assembly out? Thanks for any help.
It depends on whether it is a 7110 or a 7120 but either way I assure you the section can be removed in one chunk. This is the hard part, along with putting that section back into the machine. I think I pushed everything to the rear and managed to get the thing out.
On the 7110 I removed the guide and drum wheel section so there was open space directly above. It's a little disconcerting to have a finisher that much disassembled.
This is a shop job for sure.

Thanks for the reply. It's a 7120. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow at 4:00 and stay after work to get it done.
The bad part is I won't be able to test it until I get it back to the customers office on Monday because I don't have a machine in shop.
On the 7120 I removed the tray motor and lowered the tray so I could remove the two pieces I marked in the attached picture. In parts listing they are in figure 2. Maybe you have already done that.
I also removed the top cover and whatever plate was under it so there was plenty of open space from above.
