I also removed the top cover and whatever plate was under it so there was plenty of open space from above.

I have removed all that. The part I'm not sure about is that thin shiny metal guide (#69 - guide paper stopper) that hooks to the guide middle tray on the stapler side and then up to the roller above it. Did You have to take all that out?

I can wiggle the assembly but that's holding it in.

The shiny metal guide comes out along with that whole bundle eject assembly. I know it looks like it won't but there is no other way.

Remove the parts from the shaft in front and rear so you can move it as freely as possible. I may have removed items 58 and 59 also.

Work the shaft to the rear of the finisher and find the angle where you can get the front of the shaft free of the frame and the assembly comes out.

Take note how the wiring is routed.

Once you get the section out you will have to separate item 63 so you can install the new style sensor and wiring. The belts will come off the pulleys. When reassembling you will slip the belts back on the pulleys after snapping everything together making sure the belts are laying correctly with the front and rear cursors in phase. I mention this because it was challenging for me.

I included a picture of the section that comes out in one piece including the shiny metal guide

There is another post suggesting a firmware fix for this problem. You've probably already tried that.

I'm stripping it down right now. Did you remove the staple unit or bring it out the exit side?

I may have removed the stapler but not the whole track with the FFC. It came out upward and toward the exit as I remember.

nathicana thanks for all your help! It took me three hours to get it done but it worked perfectly when I took it back this morning. Hopefully that fix will take care of the j6511 jams. Thanks again, Jim

    Congratulations!

Three hours is reasonable for that job.

    Re: DF-7120 J6511

There is a style change to the bundle eject sensor and wiring in the DF-7110 and DF-7120 finishers.

See QA H020 for more information

It is an arduous job that I hope I don't ever do again.

It was recommended to our field tech by a Kyocera rep to address j6510, j6511

    Re: DF-7120 J6511

Did H020 updates resolve the J6511 for you guys ? The machines that we had that were having issues were replaced, but I now have more with the jam code.
    Thanks !
    Hope that helps !
