    Kyocera Fleet Services

I have 2 customers with multiple machines that we monitor on KFS. One customer has 4 machines on the same network. They had router issues and replaced their router, as far as I can tell the network settings have remained the same. After the router change 3 of them went offline and no matter what I try (reboot, unregister/reregister, hop on one foot...etc) I cannot get them to come online.

2nd Customer 2 machines same network, both were online on KFS and recently with no changes that I'm aware of, one machine dropped offline. Both machines have the exact same network settings other than different IP addresses for obvious reasons. I've had other machines drop offline and come back online after a reboot. I'm at a loss as to why these machines are offline and will not come back online.

Both customers have full use of all machines. Has anyone else run into this type of issue?

    Hi FriendlyTech.
I have a similar problem. Also big client with multiple sites, but my hands are a bit tied as their network is managed by an outsourced IT company. They’ve got multiple machines with about 7/8 sites. Only 3 sites went offline. Eventually their IT found the SMTP rely not working/allowing traffic which put him on the right track. He still hasn’t told me what he’s done to fix that one site. The other 2 are still offline. He reckons when he runs a sniffing tool on those IP addresses that there are zero traffic coming from them - KFS has been setup and was working for a while. Firmware is up to date & all network settings are correct. I don’t know what to do, so will keep an eye ob this post. Hopefully someone has a magic trick... Cheers.

I had one that went offline and could not get it back up until I used the latest combined firm, plus I had one that could not connect and it was the gateway was not correct,

Sounds like they may have swapped the switch out with a managed unit and have protocols/ports blocked.
I’m sot sure what ports are used by KFS, but finding out and ensuring those ports are open both ways would be a good start.

Another unusual occurrence we have seen is a machine that worked flawlessly in the shop when set up, went offline when installed at the customer location. Their IT (outsourced) was the one who set it up on site. For whatever reason, the IT guy just plugged it in and walked away with out checking any of the settings. He collected his fee and went on his way. In the shop we set the secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 as per Kyocera's recommendations. The IT guy did not set a primary so the device apparently hit the blank Primary DNS field and said "OK, I'm done." We now set the primary to 8.8.4.4, the alternate Google DNS to avoid this in future installs.
At least if the "outsourced IT" doesn't do their job, we don't look like the"Keystone Kopier Kompany" for his negligence. I would check that the non-reporting machines be checked for the 8.8.8.8 secondary DNS just to be sure.

we have over 30 units that have dropped off KFS and wont go back on. every unit is set up in our shop and has had KFS working. After working with tech support and others at Kyocera, we were told that the new firm wares have a glitch in them causing this. so we set up a new 2552ci and did not do the firmware and it jumped on KFS. then we updated the latest version and it jumped off and were not able to get it back on. we have stopped updating the firm wares until this is corrected
