Have you tried 2 sided original to 1 sided copy to see if it's adf or engine that is restricting duplex?

    2 sided to 1 also doesn't work.

after you 906, What is the code displayed on the screen before 2 sided failure message posts? Most likely a bad connector on back of machine that goes to CIS. I have had a couple back in the day where the CIS failed, but usually the copies were full of random lines and garbage on second side. White reference roller possibly could be causing a white balance error if very dirty or not making full contact with CIS when closed. Just a point to check.

No code is displayed. Simply says "cannot use this Function".

Have you tried a U163 reset on this device. This is normally reserved for fuser errors but has reset other errors in the past.

Since you say you tried 2 sided to one sided and it said not available, you have eliminated the print side. Since the machine is indicating that the function is not available, it does not recognize that it has a two sided DP. To me this would indicate a bad wiring harness or a defective main PCB.

can you do multiple sets of single sided originals using the DP?
if a Kyo HD goes bad on older machines, it may not show an eror, but since the HD is used to replicate the sets, you get a "Cannot use this function" message

Falcon III's will show C0640 when the HDD fails. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
