    Reliability of ECOSYS series M2040dn, M3145idn, M3655idn

    Greetings,

Im asking for your opinion on ECOSYS machines:
    M2040dn, M3145idn, M3655idn

Are those reliable? Are service cost high? What is life expectancy while printing 3000/month?
Im wondering if those are worth buying in long term perspective, because toner cost is higher compared to Xerox or Konica.

Good machines, good 3 year warranty Scan to email and folder install the KX driver set for pcl5
Toner cost if using OEM or other will be cheaper but you can't warranty dev units or drums. Good for small office.
Keep the energy saver timers low and shut off will make the fusers last longer.

We currently have 150+ of these units in the field, most which are doing 5K a month or more and they have proven to be very reliable. They initially had a fuser problem that is now solved and Kyo replaced the fusers under warranty without question. While using Kyocera's toner is a little more expensive than using generic, it more than pays for itself with fewer service calls and having the ability to put in a warranty claim. Overall we are more than pleased with the reliability of these units, they have reduced the number of service calls we receive for this class of unit.

I have a few of them on pharmacies, some doing 400-500 pages per day, 12k a month. Toner last 14-15k prints. Service much easier than the older 4020dn, fuser more involved though, but nothing major.

This series should be a good machine, and the TK117X toner cartridges now have a very large sales volume.

We have had quite a few warranty claims on the M2540dn/M2040dn machines, mostly for fusers & drums that failed prematurely. Kyocera hasn't quite figured out fuser belt technology to the extent HP & others have. Drums do not go past 100K, but are warrantied for 200K or 3 years. Our M3655idn machines have been very solid, on the other hand.
