note
main board has been replaced
machine is on wired network
issue occurs whether wired or on wifi
machine uses user codes

keeps locking up intermittently with pdf files when printing no issues scanning...

the files get stuck in copier print queue
the files generate a pcl xl error
the files lock up in the print queue on computer on network or off network... it happens with customers pc or my laptop

I only got it to print consistently by

Going into print driver

Ports take off bidirectional

Configure ports take of snmp
Advanced select print directly at printer
Security -- check all boxes everyone
Device settings pdl set to kpdl...data pass thru checked


It will print but it wont staple punch holes or anything...

for now thats ok...

I am thinking
update firmware
possibly replace dimms on kyocera
possibly replace hard drive
the key to doing this would be to check error codes which I have not checked as yet...

I am checking with you guys to see if I am overthinking this or if anyone has faced this issue before and knows of a simple solution

Download the KX driver and install using the ipaddress

once installed set pdl to pcl5
under ports uncheck snmp

There most likely nothing wrong with the copier. The PDF file is most likely the cause of the problem.

Is it a multi-layered PDF?
What program are they using to print the PDF?
There is usually a "Print as Image" option in the Advanced area of the Print section of the program they use to print.
Selecting this will usually fix this problem. Just be aware on the odd occasion the print may not come out correctly.

I have used the PDF creation part of the KX driver to create another PDF which can then be printed off.

Most of these problems I have found are caused when the PDF is created. They may have to go back to the person who supplied the document and get them to recreate it differently.

discovered its not just pdf... its all files that print give this issue...
scanning and copying works ok...
at this point its time to check c codes...

Yes check everything
Would suggest you change ipaddress on copier just incase someone is printing with wrong driver.
Make sure you have the correct print driver installed and configured.

Have you printed out the event page to see if there are any F codes being generated? Had a customer a few months ago who used a third party program that was web based and suddenly started creating print errors. Come to find out the vendor had made changes to the web pages that created malformed pages to print causing numerous F codes. What it turned out to be was the web based program was pulling data from a different server that the customers users did not have privileges on causing the print jobs to crash. When the customers internal IT and the vendor got the permissions corrected the problem disappeared. When the users trying to print have a problem is there a common program that is causing the issue?

Disconnect the copier from the network and try printing from a known working laptop. If it works fine then the customer is a problem at their end. We do this first for all print issues. Take the customers hardware out of the equation.

Chances are it will work fine.

Agreement with most of the suggestions above:

Upgrade FW
Use most up to date version of KX
Switch KX to PCL5 (haven't actually needed to do this much on newer versions of the driver)

If this didn't resolve the issue I would normally think it was an issue with PDF file or the reader they are using but if it's happening with al sorts of docs from multplue PC I think you are looking at either network issue or board

As some have said I would run a direct connection from your laptop to the copier and test the same documents. I actually had this very recently where user was getting this error very regularly and it was caused by an IP conflict - some of the data was being lost along the way and PCL XL would print out - would assume then that a suspect network port or cable could cause a similar issue.

Also - just wondering you had said that this machine had a main board fitted - was this to try and correct this error or an unrelated issue - was the board fitted new?
