Kyocera 255c makes very dark copies only when using doc. feeder

Anyone ever ran across this before? Prints look great, copies from glass look great. No error codes. I tried unplugging machine and doc feeder, no help. Scanner seems to be hitting home position just fine. I thinking about swapping out doc feeder but I don't think that's going to be the problem. Possible board?

Never mind. The scanner switch was locked. See what happens when you do calls at 7am before you've had you coffee, you miss the simple things.

Yup. Scanner lock. It's pretty well camouflaged in the back left corner. All you have to do is move the machine away from the wall ... and voila, black copies.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I remember when these machines first came out they had a board problem whose sympton was similiar, prints were good but copies were black. So, of course that's the first thing my mind jumped to that early in the morning. That was a real pain in the butt too, Kyocera reallly screwed us with those first batch of 255C's that came out, even though they replaced the boards under warranty. They weren't the ones that had to go change them and set everything back up. I don't think I've sold a brand new machine since then untill it's been out for at least 6 months just because of the bad taste that left in my mouth.
