    Kyocera 5053ci printing scanned documents

Printing a scanned PDF on a 4551ci is clearer than printing the same pdf on a newly installed 5053ci.
    see the difference here:

We ran the set up procedure MM952.
Both machines printed off a KX PCL Driver.

I also checked print settings and matched them to the tee.
    Any suggestions?

    thanks

Is that the same PDF file printed on both?

    If so,
One easy thing to try next time you're there - in the printer properties, select the Imaging tab. Choose "Publications" under the Color Reproduction tab. Sometimes that gets rid of weird artifacts like that for me, though generally i don't see this on scanned documents. More so on clip art that's supposed to have a transparent background.

could it be due to resolution settings? a lower res PDF will print differently ... what res are you scanning at?

Yes, it is the same pdf file printed on both printers, and from same PC too (customer has one 4551ci and one 4053ci on the network). I thought I matched all the print driver settings but next time I'm there, I'll check again. I also tried to print using KPDL. But the customer did not have Admin rights to make that change.

    Thanks!

Perhaps it is a low res document, the customer received it from an email attachment. But the weird thing is that the same file looks flawless on the 4551ci. ???

Since it looks worse on the new machine, I'd wager it's in the document if you blow it up and look at it closely. The older machine doesn't pick it up, since it doesn't print as high a resolution as the new one. I had a customer complaing about the 4551ci we replaced their Sharp MX-4501N with. The Sharp printed their documents fine & the Kyocera had artifacts all around their logo. You could see it when you enlarged the PDF.
    Hope that helps !

Re: Kyocera 5053ci printing scanned documents

I updated to most current firmware. Colors were also off which compromised image quality, so I refreshed developer. Customer prints color two thirds of total meter, so all color developers are depleted of toner and not keeping density. Increased U147 toner timing from default +12 to +16. Quality looks good, we'll see how it runs over the long haul.
