Hi all i have an error code 0000 on a 4500i new to these machines, i replaced the heater unit and
the exit unit no joy same code 0000. I entered code 31 and the exit job separator and DUI were in dark blue so i changed the exit unit with the two sensors problem still there any idea where to look next thanks.

Check the pins were the exit unit plugs in, sometimes they get bent

Do these 2 sensors change state when you trip the sensors? They may be "ON to OFF" switches instead of "OFF to ON" and your problem could be elsewhere.

this happened with the original exit unit did take it out twice and was careful replacing it i know one o them changed state will have to check when at m/c again any more ideas thanks

A jam 0000 indicates the machine see's a jam on power up. It could be anything from the feed sensors in the default tray to the registration sensor to the exit sensor. Had one of these units a month ago give the same jam code. It turned out to be that paper dust had collected on the paper guide across from the registration sensor causing the registration optical sensor to always see a page there. Cleaned the guide and the recess across from the registration sensor and eliminated the problem. Hope this helps.

"Exit job separator" is normal to be blue in mode 31.

Your problem is duplex sensor 1 stuck on. Maybe there's a paper fragment in there, or a sheet compressed.

It is sensor #41 in the attached diagram, up high on the conveying unit that slides out to the right on rails.

Good advice. Doesn't this model have a hidden duplex jam access door above the bypass tray?
