    M2540 - Add paper to cassette 1

I have a M2540 that intermittently shows cassette tray 1 out of paper. I have replaced the sensor and reseated all connectors on main pwb. Late in the call, I discover that cassette 1 shows paper when I place paper in the MF tray. When I remove paper from the MF tray, cassette 1 shows no paper. Any ideas.

Make sure the paper size buttons that correspond to the dial on the cassette are moving freely. We had this on a machine on a machine and I believe it applies to your model.

Usually this problem is caused by the plate that lifts the paper, it's spring loaded and the L shaped catch that is on the bottom of the plate gets bent and will not release to lift the paper when the cassette is pushed in place. All you have to do is bend it back straight, which you can do from the top of the plate.

Thanks for your help, I will look for both suggestions. I am not totally confident on the bent tray, because cassette 1 shows paper if I throw at least 1 sheet in the MF tray. I have tried printing status page without paper in MF tray and it would say to add paper. I install 1 sheet into MF tray and cassette tray 1 shows paper and it pulls the paper from cassette 1.

This sounds like a setting... cassette 1 isn't set to some odd size or media type?? is the size programmed, or set by the dial? can you prove that the dial setting is being registered?

There is no dial on these machines, are you sure you don't mean the M3540?

I have never noticed a dial on the cassette, but someone suggested it. I said I would look. I know it is a M2540 copier.

Sorry for the delay. Thanks for the suggestions. I could not get it to work. I am going with the Main PWB.

A co-worker replaced the main board and it worked fine. After a week, it has thrown a F25C. It ask to make a USBLOG and call tech support. How do I create a USBLOG, so I can call Kyocera with it?
