Yes but i cant see its a broken gear as it wouldn't work when the paper tray is full of paper as then its heavier. when the tray is over half full it works fine, its only when the tray is nearly empty it fails to load the paper.
I mostly remember this issue. There are two sensors and when the paper tray lifts it actuates one. It keeps lifting until the paper feed assembly activates the other. The tray will then drop to release tension on the paper feed assembly. That spring is needed.
