PF-7110 intermittent dog eared on new 4003 series

I ran across 2 new 03 series machines where it produced large dog eared paper intermittently when using the PF-7110. I know there was a bulletin for this on the 02 series and both my machines do in fact have the new style paper feed bridge unit.

Anyone else see this continued on the new 03 series machines?

    Any 0523, 0524 jams? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

please continue your line thought on these j codes. I had one today with these codes. Convey unit was the updated version. I adjusted the sep tension with a wait n see approach.

For 0523 and 0524, often accompanied by dog-ears and paper skew, on the 4002i/4052ci series:

On the first example I removed the right door and outer guides (0524), then inserted tray #4 and watched it lift. What I noticed was that at it's highest point, the paper wasn't quite above the right edge of the metal side of the paper tray. What I was looking for was a height adjustment for the stack, but of course there is none. The sensor is stationary in a stationary mount. So ... I trimmed about 2mm off of the flag that detects paper height (attached to the pickup tire assy). It's on the bridge at the rear. I'd nip off about 1.5mm then file it smooth. Results in 2mm higher stack. Resolves paper skew, dog-ears, and 0524.

The exact same thing applies to tray #3, the main difference being that you cannot directly view the lift height. So there I inserted a purple page in the stack, removed the right tray then inserted the left tray. Then you can measure the distance from the purple sheet to the edge of the tray side.

After a few successes, if I see 0523 and/or 0524, I'll nip 2mm off both flags and file them smooth. No recalls that I'm aware of. I'll see if I can find a picture. =^..^=

I hope you find the pic, I look forward to it.

Side note. Your descriptions, as I follow them, sound like you have 3 on the left and 4 on the right which is incorrect but I could just be lost in the analysis.

I was thinking Konica Minolta. Why would they label the trays 3/4 differently?

Thanks for the pic. I dunno, I can see the logic both way. Kyocera says 3 is straight down from 2. KM says you read the LCC from left to right.

I was pissed trying to remove the paper conveyance. They added that weird ass metal loop that hooks onto tray 4. Turns out you need to pull 4 out extra far, jeez.

Ok sorry OP for hijacking your thread. I'll shut up.

Thanks Blackcat. After seeing the picture and rereading your description of what you did makes sense. Something I'll look into if I get called back.

Konica Minolta's way is confusing or at least always have to look carefully when resetting the feed roller counters not to reset the wrong tray after replacing them. So i'm a bit dyslectic and left and right screws with me. Like the Kyocera's way of numbering the trays better.

Good to see good fault finders. The description given did start from the right of the machine so stopped thinking about tray number after that.
    Good find and fix.
    Whatever
