CS3552 Magenta Developer unit

Hi Guys,
Has anyone experienced, while working on a CS 3552cidn, the gray, shaft lock button on Kyocera's Magenta Developer unit failing to stay pushed in? When this button is in it's out position, the mag roller is out of position, away from the drum, and toner will not show up on the prints. I, now, have run across 6 Kyocera Magenta Developer units, that have done this. None of the other developer units, k, cyan, or yellow, that I have seen, do this.

As far as I know, there isn't a tech bulletin on this either.

I've had one break before, I can't remember which color it was though

Thanks for the response. Just to reiterate, it seems odd that only the magenta developer units have this flaw. Weird. I'd be interested to know, if there's a way to fix this issue onsite.

I have had it happen on cyan 3 or 4 times on early models, there were changes made to the lock in later developer units, to get it working with the broken lock i stick a piece of plastic between the lock and the cover to hold the gray lock in

I've also thought of that, which I agree, would work. Having a suitable piece of plastic on hand to wedge in there, has been a shortfall of mine. The only other recourse is to simply order a new unit. I appreciate your input!

One of our techs used the wooden shafts of hospital cotton swabs, and cut 4 or 5 "stakes" with a tapered end. He was happy with the results. =^..^=

Those could be picked up at a pharmacy, I suppose. Where, exactly, on the developer unit, would he place it?

The way I understand it, he jammed in these stakes around the edges of the gray button, then snipped off any sticking out. =^..^=

Cut two half inch pieces of your canned air straw off. Taper the end of the straws by crushing with pliers and slide both in. I use 2 (one on top of the other just for a little extra push. If it's close to the PM I leave the straw mod, if it's going to be a while and it's under warranty I'll order the dev and come back. Just had a black dev fail last week on a high volume 6052ci
